Love

“One Another”.

A few weeks ago the Lord put a couple words into my consciousness – “One Another”.

Ever-so-often He does this, and it has a profound effect upon me.  Obviously, I knew about the scriptures which teach believers in Christ to “love one another”; however, when the Lord opens your heart and places a thought into it, it has life-changing impact beyond just having something in your head.

Over the following weeks, the Lord filled my thoughts with what He meant by “One another”.

What we see as the “church” today hardly ever speaks about the importance of Christ’s impact upon our lives as it relates to how we need to treat “One Another”.

The gifts of the Spirit, and all that surrounds the administering of religious teachings of a particular congregation and its doctrinal beliefs, are primarily the focus of religious leaders today.

However, what does the Lord teach us about how we are supposed to treat “One Another”?

I started looking through the Bible, especially the New Testament, and I rediscovered the simple truth regarding this question.

Joh_13:34  A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

Joh_13:35  By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

Joh_15:12  This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

Joh_15:17  These things I command you, that ye love one another.

These verses in the gospel of John are explicit and more numerous than in any of the other gospels.

In fact, it is in the gospel of John that the most famous and well known of scripture exists:

Joh_3:16  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

I know what I don’t hear from today’s “Christian” churches, but what should we be hearing and what is the ultimate purpose of our faith in Christ while we are upon the earth?

We have been mislead and deceived over time.

I poured over various parts of the scriptures and rediscovered many verses which tell us to love one another.

The Lord, through the apostle Paul, made it a point to focus the mind of the Church to this fact in I Corinthians chapter 13.

Apart from these verses there are so many others which instruct us to love “One Another”.

The three epistles of the apostle John remind, admonish and instruct us to love “One Another”.

When the Lord spoke of His return His concern centered upon how we loved “One Another”.

Mat 25:34  Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

Mat 25:35  For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

Mat 25:36  Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

Mat 25:37  Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

Mat 25:38  When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?

Mat 25:39  Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

Mat 25:40  And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

The concern was not for the exercising of spiritual gifts and “church” administration.

1Jn_3:17  But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?

Jas 2:15  If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,

Jas 2:16  And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?

Jas 2:17  Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

1Jn_3:18  My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

Charity (love) abideth ever.
